(18) Nishi-nippori kanban kenchiku at dusk

Looking through old photos I see the familiar shape of kanban kenchiku silhouetted against the evening sky; we’re on a wide street close to Nishi-Nippori station, so many of the older structures have been replaced (map):

This photo was taken in 2014. Since then, one of the buildings has been renovated, perhaps as a residential buildings. This was 美濃屋豆腐店, a tofu store; instead of a sign and awning, the building’s facade now displays a fleur-de-lis on the second floor facade, perhaps merely as decoration. It’s nice to see example of billboard architecture being preserved.
